Rhyffedd Coed Station
Rhyffedd Coed has, for many years, been a popular destination for visitors to the railway. Modestly appointed, it has only a small station building and operationally is only provided with a passing loop and a single siding. There is some goods traffic but quite often vehicles are abandoned on the siding for convenience! Situated on the south slope of the hillside it basks in the warm sun, with the lazy sound of sheep, carried on the light breeze and the songs of chaffinches and other woodland birds. A distant trickle of water signifies one of the small streams making its way towards the Sychnant river. The tranquillity of the station is only disturbed by the very occasional car on the old drover's road which is to the West end on the loop.
When trains arrive and pass, the station can become quite animated for a short while, passengers alighting, joining, taking photographs and train crews chatting before they depart and the station resumes its slumber and the birds take up their song. On other occasions a mixed goods may wander into sight, pause in the loop and carry out some lethargic and unhurried shunting, scarcely intruding on the station's peace.
